The Passion of Christ - Part 5

Today, let's look at why our Heavenly Father cried.
God turned His back on His Son because He had to pubish Him for our sins. He is the judge of the universe. But as Father, I believe He wept. That is why in the movie, The Passion Of The Christ, there is this part where a tear falls from heaven - I love that scene! (I watch it with my brother and sister-in-law.)
The Bible itself says that Jesus's sacrifice was a sweet-smelling aroma to the Father. (Epesians 5:2) Yes, as God and judge, God had to turn His back on His Son because His eyes are too pure to behold evil and sin. (Habakkuk 1:13) But as Father, His heart was broken because Christ was never more pleasing to Him than at the time. Do you remember what Jesus said? "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it again. This command Ihave received from My Father." (John 10:17-18)
Those of you with children love your children all the time. But sometimes, your child will do something special out of love for you, and it touches your heart so much that you want to just hug him.
God felt the same way about His Son when He was on the cross. But He could not embrace His Son even when Jesus cried out to Him. As Judge of the universe, He had to turn His back and allow His Son to be pubished to the full for our sins.
Parents, if your child is suffering, even though he bought it upon himself, it makes you want to cry, doesn't it? It makes you want to help your child. How much more if your child is innocent! Jesus was innocent. He knew no sin. He did no sin. And in Him was no sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Yet, He suffered and died for our sins because He loved His Father and He loved us.
In total, Jesus took the fullness of the pubishment so that you can enjoy the fullness of forgiveness.
Thank you Lord Jesus!
